RSVP Directors Visit the State Capital

Each year the Iowa Association of RSVP Directors hosts an educational breakfast for Iowa Legislators.
The event is an opportunity to share the stories of service that are the heart of RSVP.  The State of Iowa support for RSVP helps local programs to meet federal grant match requirements and provide volunteer management services to over 1,300 Iowa Non-profit organizations.

Iowa RSVP projects are part of Senior Corps, a network of national service programs that provide individuals age 55 and over the opportunity to apply their life experience to meet community needs through volunteer service.  The RSVP Legislative Breakfast brings together professional RSVP volunteer managers and state leaders

Volunteer Awareness Day

The Iowa Association of RSVP Directors participated in the 7th annual Volunteer Awareness Day, held at the Capitol in Des Moines, on February 21, 2012. This event, coordinated by the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service (ICVS), has been designed to give legislators and the public an opportunity to learn more about the incredible contributions volunteers make to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Iowa.

Iowa RSVP Directors were able to visit with legislators and the general public about the impact RSVP volunteers make in their Iowa communities each and every day.  This is also an opportunity for RSVP Directors to thank their legislators for past support.

Informational brochures and cards highlighting 2011 achievements were handed out to those in attendance.  In addition, many RSVP Directors were able to share personal stories of how programs and volunteers continue to make a difference in the lives of their fellow Iowans.
